Volunteers

Want to help out with MinneBar 2011? Great!  Here are some things we need help with:

FOOD & DRINK We hire professionals to actually make the food, but we could use some help getting the food to all the MinneBar participants.  This includes stuff like meeting delivery people at the door, setting up the table areas to serve the food, and making sure everything is running smoothly while people are getting to it.  This will also include getting the beer set-up as well (I’m afraid if you are not 21, you can’t help with the beer.)  We need 2 to 3 people to do this stuff, so get your friends to join you.  This will take about an hour right around lunch and an hour at the end of the day, but you’d be eating and drinking anyway, right?

CHECK-IN If you attended MinneBar before, you know the drill.  You show up, get some information, and get an awesome t-shirt.  We need 3-4 people to help move participants through this process.  The downside is that you have to arrive early, but the upside is that you are free to enjoy MinneBar responsibility-free for the rest of the day.

SIGNAGE We need a lot of signs- for sponsors, for rooms, for directions.  And we need help getting them printed and hung up around Best Buy.  We will provide a full list of all necessary signs, but we are looking for someone to make the color prints and bring them the day of MinneBar.  We will, of course, reimburse you for all expenses incurred (but don’t go crazy and have them printed in gold or anything), and help out determining their placement.  Like Check-In this job requires that you show up early, but you can be done before people even show up!  This will probably take up to 2 hours before MinneBar getting the signs arranged and printed, and 1/2 hour or so on the day of the event.

A/V We are hiring professionals to videotape the larger rooms, but for the smaller rooms we are asking for help from volunteers.  We are lining up someone attending each session in the smaller rooms to 1) press record on a video camera when the session starts, and then 2) press stop when it is over.  That’s it.  No need to manage the recording throughout the session or zoom in or out.
