Job Summary
As a Senior Database Administrator, you will provide leadership and technical expertise for the design, development, security, backup and recovery, operation, and performance tuning of all DNR Oracle, PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL databases and related infrastructure. The position is a focal point for all database development, and advises application developers and data managers in the department on database development standards, data integrity and accessibility, and. This position is also responsible for coordinating and administering DNR data warehouses.
This position is currently eligible for full-time telework:
- Telework for Minnesota IT Services allows an employee to perform work from a telework location and an employee may be required to be in the office based on business needs and other dependencies in Minnesota.
- Only candidates located in Minnesota and bordering states (Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wisconsin) are telework eligible.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must clearly demonstrate all of the following qualifications in their resume.
This position requires four (4) years of relational database design and management experience.
Experience must include:
- In-depth knowledge of Oracle RDMS and PostgreSQL RDMS
- In-depth knowledge of spatial database extensions including Oracle Spatial, ESRI SDE and PostGIS
- Strong knowledge of working with RDMS-related tools such SQL Developer, Toad, PgAdmin
- In depth knowledge of Linux scripting using shell scripts and languages such as Python or Perl
- Relational database design and development
*A master’s degree in Information Technology or a related field substitutes for three (3) years of experience, OR a related bachelor’s degree substitutes for two (2) years, OR a related associate’s degree substitutes for one (1) year.*
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of MySQL/MariaDB and Microsoft SQL Server RDMS
- Experience with enterprise Linux distributions (RedHat, SuSE, Oracle Enterprise Linux (OEL))
- Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
- Enterprise reporting environments
- Experience with cloud databases in Azure and/or Amazon Web Services (AWS)
