This position serves our partners at the Department of Corrections (DOC). The MNIT DOC team runs many unique applications that manage the information and security of the department, supporting 4,500 employees across 10 prisons and 50 field offices located throughout the state.

Job Summary

The Senior Solution Support Engineer – Team Lead role ensures the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of Information Systems & technologies, including solutions and devices for a specific set of business portfolios within the Business Services Support organization.  The role applies communication, analytical and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments for the Minnesota Department of Corrections.

This position is currently eligible for full-time telework:

  • Telework for Minnesota IT Services allows an employee to perform work from a telework location and an employee may be required to be in the office based on business needs and other dependencies in St. Paul, Minnesota.
  • Only candidates located in Minnesota and bordering states (Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wisconsin) are telework eligible.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must clearly demonstrate all of the following qualifications in their resume:

Position requires a minimum of four (4) years of experience in computer technologies.

Experience must include:

  • Maintaining stability and health of SaaS, DaaS or PaaS and COTs systems
  • Management and prioritization of application portfolio demand, overseeing intake processes, and serving as a point of escalation for complex technical issues and projects.
  • Guiding and mentoring lower level technical resources while fostering (maintaining) robust business relationships.
  • Strategizing, monitoring, and executing software updates to ensure system currency and optimal performance.
  • Collaborating directly with software and asset vendors to troubleshoot technology challenges and implement scalable business solutions.
  • Ability to deliver effective verbal or written messages that facilitate a mutual understanding on both parties.
  • Customer service skills that include active listening, empathy, and problem-solving.

*A Master’s degree in Information Technology or a related field may substitute for three years of experience, related Bachelor’s degree may substitute for two years, or related Associate’s may substitute for one year.*

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong technical, process and customer-focused background
  • SDLC, ITIL, Incident Management, and Project Management methodologies.
  • Strong team/collaborative work practices
  • Device support models – printer installation and configuration support in partnership with vendor and end user
  • Training and conference room technology support
  • Familiarity with server operating systems (such as Microsoft Operating system), security and application controls(such as Group Policy Objects GPO), ESM, CSP, windows firewalls, Cisco firewalls) and data management practices
