This position will be part of the Enterprise Services team, which delivers a full suite of services to state agencies, boards, councils, and commissions, and many central services to local government partners.

Job Summary

As the Workstation Management Director, you will provide leadership and direction for Workstation Management in support of the Executive Branch and other MNIT customers. The position leads development and execution of multi-agency service management strategies to include 54 Executive Branch agencies, Boards and Commissions. As an integral part of our management team, they lead the efforts to optimize services, ensure standardization of services and provide strategic planning for those services.

This position is currently eligible for full-time telework: 

  • Telework for Minnesota IT Services allows an employee to perform work from a telework location and an employee may be required to be in the office based on business needs and other dependencies in St. Paul, Minnesota.
  • Only candidates located in Minnesota and bordering states (Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wisconsin) are telework eligible.


Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must clearly demonstrate all of the following qualifications in their resume:

Position requires a minimum of six (6) years of experience within a workstation management environment AND a minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience. Two years of experience in a Systems Architect classification or two years of experience in an external IT Architect role may substitute for two years of the required supervisory experience.

Experience must also demonstrate the following:

  •   Expert knowledge of Desktop / Endpoint Support and related practices in the following areas:

o   Desktop Support operations

o   Workstation Patching and SCCM

o   Asset / Configuration and Knowledge Management

o   Desktop Support applications, Metrics and reporting

  • Ability to deliver effective verbal or written messages that facilitate a mutual understanding on both parties.
  • Customer service skills that include active listening, empathy, and problem-solving.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing an enterprise workstation management team.
  • Experience with optimization of services.
  • Change management leadership experience.
  • Experience with governmental systems, statutes and rules relating to information technology.
  • Experience with state-wide policies and procedures governing employee relations and collective bargaining.
  • Experience with state budgeting, accounting systems and contracting procedures to ensure contracts within procurement guidelines.
