Showcasing the Tech Talent of Minnesota’s Students

 

We at Minnestar are excited to announce Minnedemo: Back to Campus, a tech showcase highlighting the talent of students and recent graduates in the MN tech community.

Last year’s event saw an incredible lineup including an innovative wheelchair for quadriplegic patients and a hall pass platform now being used in more than 30 states (learn more about them here). This year, we are excited to work with Prime Digital Academy as our 2019 Host School Community.

Since 2006 Minnestar has existed to serve and grow a thriving technology community for all in Minnesota. We have done this through our popular signature events (such as Minnedemo and Minnebar), and work to promote the talent, knowledge and innovation happening in our community.

As we think about the health of our community, we always want to be intentional about welcoming, including, and supporting new technologists. We have a tremendous amount of talent coming our of our colleges, universities and bootcamp programs – it’s time we  support, celebrate and showcase it in a big way.

The event will follow the Minnedemo format (more info below), as well as providing free head shots and conversation circles with MN technology leaders.  This will be the can’t-miss event for students entering the tech community – all current students or recent graduates from any school or bootcamp program are welcome and encouraged to apply.

Got a brilliant side project, after-work-hustle, potential next business venture or budding start-up you want to share with the world? We’ve got just the venue for some tech show and tell. Minnedemo: Back to Campus will be taking place November 26th 2019 at Target Plaza Commons. We are accepting applications now through November 5th.

New to Minnedemo? Here’s the premise:

  • Demos are 7 minutes long
  • Demos are of MN-made technology
  • Demos are truly demos: you present your work or work-in-progress to the audience. No Powerpoints, please.
  • Presenters for this event must be students or recent graduates (college, bootcamps, etc)

We will select a subgroup for a second round review before selecting the final seven demos. Please note we accept MN-made technology from any size (individual projects to large companies) across a variety of topics and readiness to demo.
