MN VR and HCI June: 2025: Spiders
June 25 @ 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm CDT
Making a market-friendly Spider – RJ White
Earlier this year in a quick and dirty development cycle, I developed a concept for a multiplayer VR game in a month, and had 50,000+ players less than a month after launch. I’ll be talking about this game, simply called “Spiders”.
I’ll talk in detail about :
- Starting from scratch, kitbashing, and using existing tools to speed up development
- “Gorilla locomotion”, a popular and trendy movement mechanic, applied to the concept
- Marketing and getting the name out there when there’s little hope for natural discovery or store exposure on the Meta Quest platform nowadays
