Operationalizing .NET in the cloud is hard. Infrastructure is never static, it evolves as you scale, and vendors change things out from under you seemingly every day. How do you avoid your DevOps being a fire drill? In this talk I'll share my Lazy DevOps approach that allows me, a single developer, to manage my app, database, servers, and cloud resources painlessly using Terraform, Docker, and Ansible. You'll learn what each of these tools are good for (and where they fall short), as well as specific examples using ASP.NET Core and Framework development on Cloudflare and Azure. “Frontloading the pain' and spending time upfront declaratively defining your resources with Terraform, packaging your app as a Docker container, and writing some Ansible playbooks will save hours of headache down the road.
