The MNIT MDH team provides services for over 250+ applications and delivers the information technology to drive one of the leading public health systems in the nation. You will support an agency that works to protect, maintain, and improve the health of all Minnesotans.

Job Summary

As a Data/AI Architect for Minnesota IT Services (MNIT) and the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH), you will help design and lead the maturation of MDH’s data and intelligence platforms. You will serve as a primary point of contact for those seeking technical ways to garner insight about the rich tapestry of data that MDH stewards. This is a hands-on position, and you will be expected to not only design but implement, mentor and prototype. MDH has a complex data environment, with a combination of very big data systems, as well as large numbers of smaller disparate data systems. This position is currently eligible for full-time telework:

  • Telework for Minnesota IT Services allows an employee to perform work from a telework location and an employee may be required to be in the office based on business needs and other dependencies in St. Paul, Minnesota.
  • Only candidates located in Minnesota and bordering states (Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wisconsin) are telework eligible.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must clearly demonstrate these qualifications in their resume:

 

Position requires a minimum of five (5) years of experience designing and implementing solutions in an enterprise level data reporting/ analytic environments.

 

Experience must include:

  • ETL experience, and experience manipulating large relational and non-relational datasets.
  • Proficiency in at least one modern programming language, such as JavaScript, Python, Java or C#.
  • Experiencing interacting with and/or designing data pipelines including API’s for BI reporting, data visualization, and predictive analytics.
  • Hands on experience with AWS services related to data or corresponding AWS partner service offerings.
  • Conceptual training and knowledge of AI and Data services offered by AWS and/or Azure.
  • Ability to deliver effective verbal or written messages that facilitate a mutual understanding on both parties.
  • Customer service skills that include active listening, empathy, and problem-solving.

A master’s degree in Information Technology or a related field substitutes for three (3) years of experience, OR a related bachelor’s degree substitutes for two (2) years, OR a related associate’s degree substitutes for one (1) year.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Thorough knowledge of Enterprise-wide data reporting and analytic environments.
  • Extensive hands-on expertise with various reporting / analytics/ dash-boarding / Business Intelligence Products
  • Demonstrated ability to design, develop, enhance and maintain data solutions with day-to-day experience working with one or more data analytics technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and use data governance policies, best practices and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop for and support intelligence tools.
