The MNIT DHS team supports complex and varied technical needs, including systems that provide health care coverage, deliver child protection and welfare services, and provide support for Minnesotans with special needs including mental illness, chemical dependencies, and physical or developmental disabilities.
Job Summary
As IT Quality Assurance Analyst/Tester, you will provide professional knowledge and skills in information systems software testing, quality assurance and quality control of application software and systems. This includes the quality of the coding itself and not just the outcome of the application execution. This position promotes appropriate testing methodologies, striving to identify and manage defects in the software systems.
This position is currently eligible for full-time telework:
- Telework for Minnesota IT Services allows an employee to perform work from a telework location and an employee may be required to be in the office based on business needs and other dependencies in St. Paul, Minnesota.
- Only candidates located in Minnesota and bordering states (Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wisconsin) are telework eligible.
*This vacancy is being posted at the Information Technology Specialist 3 and Information Technology Specialist 4 levels. The classification will be determined by the selected candidate’s qualifications.
*We will be filling a total of three (3) vacancies from this one posting. All applicants will be considered for both.
*This position is temporary and includes full state fringe benefits; it is anticipated to last two (2) years.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must clearly demonstrate all of the following qualifications in their resume:
Information Technology Specialist 3
This position requires a minimum of three (3) years of experience in performing IT quality analysis functions.
Information Technology Specialist 4
This position requires a minimum of four (4) years of experience in performing IT quality analysis functions.
Experience must also demonstrate:
- Participation in formal review of business/functional requirements and application design
- Creation of business relevant artifacts: test scenarios, test cases and test data
- Execution of manual, functional, regression, smoke, and system testing tasks
- Communicating progress of all test activities against the test plan/release schedule
- Analyzing and reporting of defects, test results and overall test status
- Ability to deliver effective verbal or written messages that facilitate a mutual understanding on both parties
- Customer service skills that include attention to detail, active listening, empathy, and problem-solving
A Master’s degree in Information Technology or a related field may substitute for three (3) years of experience, OR a related Bachelor’s degree may substitute for two (2) years, OR a related Associate’s may substitute for one (1) year.
Preferred Qualifications
Information Technology Specialist 3
- Web based application testing experience
- Mainframe testing experience
- GUI testing experience
- Ability to work independently and keep yourself on task.
- Ability to communicate clearly and present complex information to others.
Information Technology Specialist 4
- Leading the QA effort on projects
- Coordinating test schedules and assisting in managing the progress of all test activities according to the test plan/release schedule
- Database testing experience
- A self-starter with proven ability to perform effectively with limited supervision
- Ability to communicate clearly, present complex information to users in a comprehensive style, and translate technical and system information for non-technical stakeholders
