Job Summary

As an IT Quality Assurance (QA) Supervisor, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality and reliability of software products through effective testing strategies, automation, and process improvement. Your expertise in automation will be critical in enhancing efficiency and maintaining high standards. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading our QA team, developing and implementing automated testing strategies, and ensuring the quality and reliability of our software products. This role requires strong leadership, technical proficiency, and a passion for driving continuous improvement in QA processes. Quality assurance works in a team environment with project managers, business analysts and developers to deliver secure modern application solutions in an area focused on protecting the environment and resources of Minnesota.

This position is currently eligible for full-time telework: 

  • Telework for Minnesota IT Services allows an employee to perform work from a telework location and an employee may be required to be in the office based on business needs and other dependencies in St. Paul, Minnesota. 
  • Only candidates located in Minnesota and bordering states (Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wisconsin) are telework eligible. 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must clearly demonstrate all of the following qualifications in their resume: 

This position requires a minimum of three (3) years of experience in automation engineering as a team lead or other leadership role.

Experience must include:

  • Demonstrated experience in systems analysis and design principles, project management, and custom software development.
  • Solid understanding of software development lifecycles (Waterfall, iterative, Agile (SAFE or SCRUM), contemporary QA processes and best practices in diverse custom development environments.
  • Proficiency in automation testing tools and frameworks, such as Selenium or similar services.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with a keen attention to detail, includes strategy planning and forecasting.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with peers, cross-functional teams, leadership team and stakeholders (IT & Business).
  • Ability to deliver effective verbal or written messages that facilitate a mutual understanding on both parties.
  • Customer service skills that include active listening, empathy, and problem-solving.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Lead work or supervisory experience.
  • Experience with implementation and administration of QA measurements and metrics, such as defect analysis and execution reporting.
  • Ability to articulate the difference between QA and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to both technical and non-technical staff.
  • Knowledge of relational databases, data modeling, object-oriented development, and system design methodologies.
  • Experience supervising teams including performance appraisals, conflict resolution, and building high performance teams.
  • Experience with performance testing, security testing, and test management tools.
  • Ability to plan, lead, and schedule major systems effort and provide work direction and guidance to others.
  • Training or certification related to the International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB) or similar programs.
