The MNIT MDH team provides services for over 250+ applications and delivers the information technology to drive one of the leading public health systems in the nation. Job Summary

As a senior developer at Minnesota IT Services and the Minnesota Department of Health, you will be supporting, designing, and modernizing systems and custom application solutions. You will experience a diverse, creative and energetic array of people while influencing the technical aspect of the Minnesotan health experience. In addition to the Minnesota Department of Health, your work will be vital to numerous departments and teams that you will come in contact with. This position is currently eligible for full-time telework:

  • Telework for Minnesota IT Services allows an employee to perform work from a telework location and an employee may be required to be in the office based on business needs and other dependencies in St. Paul, Minnesota.
  • Only candidates located in Minnesota and bordering states (Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wisconsin) are telework eligible.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must clearly demonstrate these qualifications in their resume:

Position requires a minimum of four (4) years of experience using Java.

 

Experience must include:

  • JavaScript Framework experience with React or Vue in a real world environment.
  • AWS experience, demonstrated by the use of at least 2 of the following services (Lambda, S3, RDS, Lambda, and ECS) in a real world environment.
  • Experience working in public or Non-Profit environment.
  • Ability to deliver effective verbal or written messages that facilitate a mutual understanding on both parties.
  • Customer service skills that include active listening, empathy, and problem-solving.

A master’s degree in Information Technology or a related field substitutes for three (3) years of experience, OR a related bachelor’s degree substitutes for two (2) years, OR a related associate’s degree substitutes for one (1) year.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 1 years’ experience consuming AWS, demonstrated by the use of at least 2 of the following services (Lambda, S3, RDS, Lambda, and ECS) in a real world environment.
  • 2 years’ experience working in public or Non-Profit environment.
  • Package Management experience (Maven, NPM, Gradle or others)
  • Spring framework experience
  • Familiarity with Containerization and Docker
  • Ability to present complex information to users in a comprehensive style, translate technical and system information for non-technical stakeholders, and proven ability to collaborate/work effectively as part of a team.
  • Experience/background with system/application configurations, system prototyping, data modeling, software development, and/or application/network architecture.
